Irish Chaplaincy - Events

Upcoming Events:

July 4th 2010

As we come to the end of the school year and start to prepare for holidays, we need to do some planning for the year ahead. Father Pearse Walsh will be finishing his time with us at the end of July and for the moment a successor has not been appointed.

At the community picnic on the 20th of June a number of people expressed the desire to see our community better organised and represented. If we are to progress on this idea we need to move quickly before the holidays begin in earnest, and also before the traditional annual closure of the chaplaincy for the month of August.

So with the objective of having an open discussion together, we would like to encourage you to try to make it to the Irish College on next Sunday morning July 4th for mass at 11.30. After mass we can spend 15 mins discussing what we need to do for our community.

We hope that this finds you all well and enjoying the warm weather.

Amis/Cairde/Friends,

Bonne année à vous tous! Athbhliain faoi shéan is faoi mhaise dhibh! Happy New Year to you all!

Fr Walsh will soon have his computer up and running. In the meantime, the Chaplaincy wishes to inform all that the celebrations for the feast of St Brigid will be held on Sunday, January 31st (the eve of February 1st, which is St Brigid's Day and traditionally the first day of Spring!! Hope springs eternal.......)

After 11:30 Mass we will have the usual "Loaves and fishes miracle meal", which, roughly translated means, all those coming are invited to bring enough to eat for 2 or 3 or more........ thus ensuring that there is enough food for all, including visitors.

A bientôt.

Kathleen

Amis/Cairde/Friends,
Mass on Sunday, December 20th will be at the usual time of 11:30.

Please note that there will no Mass on Christmas Day nor on Sunday 27th December. I would ask you to please pass on this message to anyone who may not have received it. Mass willl resume on Sunday, January 3rd 2010, when Fr Walsh will be in residence.

For those of you wishing to attend an english-language Mass for Christmas, St Joseph's, 50 avenue Hoche Metro/ RER Charles de Gaulle Etoile (Arr 8)have 3 Evening Masses on December 24th as follows:

Family Mass (but of course open to all) at 17:30pm;

Mass at 19:30;

Mass at 22:00 pm (Carols at 21:30pm)

They also have Mass on Christmas morning at 11:00 am

But to return for a moment to "La Chapelle" :
In the 3 months since Fr Bracken's departure, there has been Mass every Sunday, thanks to English-speaking priests in Paris, who have been kind enough to help us out. On behalf of Fr Walsh and the community, I would like to thank Fr Philip, who celebrated Mass for us no less that 4 times, Fr Troy, who also celebrated, not just Sunday Mass, but also a baptism and 2 weddings and of course the 2 priests we had, back in October, Fr Jerome and Fr Pascal Roux and of course Fr Keith, who celebrated Mass and stayed for the Carol service. We are most grateful to all of them.

We have also had music every Sunday, thanks to Riona and to Marie. Refreshments have always been on offer, every Sunday without fail, thanks to the "tea and coffee team"
Personally, I would like to thank those of you who replied to my mails during the past 3 months, those of you who supported and encouraged me and sincere thanks to all those who came, regularly, Sunday after Sunday.
A final word of thanks to all those who helped out with the Carols and the catering and the preparations, and of course those who came to the Carol service.
A happy, joy-filled Christmas to you all.

Kathleen

Amis/Cairde/Friends,
It is a pleasure to announce that the annual Christmas carol service will take place on Sunday, December 13th 2009, at 5pm.
We hope to have Mass on that day at 3pm as in former years.
If any of you wish to join the "core group" for practice after the 11:30 Mass on the next few Sundays, you will be more than welcome.
May I remind you all that there is Mass every Sunday and that Fr Pearse Walsh will be with us on November 29th, for the first Sunday in Advent.

Bonne semaine et à dimanche,

Kathleen

November 8th
Amis/Cairde/Friends,

As you now know, Fr Pearse walsh will not be with us on a permanent basis until after Christmas. He has not yet been replaced in his own parish in Dublin.
Fr Philip Mattathil, whom some of you met on November 1st, will celebrate Mass in La Chapelle on November 15th and again on the 22nd, at the usual time of 11:30am.

Hope to see you all then and in the meantime,
Have a good week.

Kathleen

Past events:
Fr Philip Mattathil will celebrate Mass in La Chapelle on Sunday next, November 1st , at the usual time of 11:30.
Next Sunday is , as you know, the Feast of All Saints, with the Feast of All Souls on the 2nd.

This Sunday's Mass gives us a chance to pray to-gether for our dead, being, as we are, unable to visit their graves.

Amis/Cairde/Friends,

We have good news. The new chaplain has been chosen.
Have been informed that Fr Pearse Walsh has been appointed chaplain for a two year period. He hopes to arrive in the College for Mass Feast of All Saints of
Ireland and will celebrate Mass on November 8th.

Actually, I should say "re-appointed", as some of you will remember him. He was chaplain here for some time, prior to the renovations.
